But along the edges of the bustling downtown core, past the rows of glossy office towers, a single, three-story house stands to predate them all.

Music was pouring out onto the front steps of the legendary King Eddy where Silvering, a project by Shalom Toy, was set to release their debut EP titled Minefield Memory. The King Eddy, established in 1905, was torn down and rebuilt brick by brick in 2013 as the structural integrity and health and safety of the building had been depleted.

On Friday, April 5, I attended my first ever OffBeat Figure Drawing session, “FIRE FLY,” at the #mailotcastle, a stoic 1970s home, sponsored as a one year art residency project in Mount Royal.

Local talent Landos recently released their six-song EP titled Before Time that is both instrumentally and lyrically captivating and relatable, and is perfect for a sunny drive in the car when you’re looking for some fun and easy listening. The four-piece has been making waves since the release of their first EP back in December 2017 titled Simple Things, and although they are relatively new to the Calgary music scene, their music has made it onto every playlist I’ve ever had and this newest release is no exception.
